Regional Manager: Amatikulu and Darnall

SA Canegrowers has a vacancy for Regional Manager to oversee two mill areas namely Amatikulu and Darnall. The position is based in Gingingdlovu, Amatikulu in Kwa-Zulu Natal. The Regional Manager will develop, implement and manage the work programme arising from the SA Canegrowers business objectives and provides technical and economic advice to cane grower’s local structures and grower leadership of the area. The successful incumbent will be required to provide growers will relevant research, data and information which will assist in the sustainability of their business. This will entail identifying strategic issues and or risks that will impact the growers farming operations and analysing individual grower’s costs and performance in order to provide advice to guide decision making. A key role would be to assist grower leadership in preparation for strategic meetings, analysing decisions and providing alternatives to issues and challenges. Strong leadership and management skills are essential as the ability to interact with all internal and external stakeholders is critical to the role’s success.

Applicants for this position should have the following:

  • Masters in Agricultural Economics or a similar qualification majoring in Economics with at least five years’ experience working in an agricultural environment, preferably sugar.
  • A valid driver’s licence.
  • Excellent numerical competence.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with proven experience in report writing as well as presentations.
  • The position requires the incumbent to be fully computer literate.

This position will be responsible for managing and mentoring staff, preparing the regions budgets and general staff coaching.
